Questions

I know we are suppose to post some of our answers to some of the questions we had to  elaborate on so I had picked two of them to post.

 1. Was there a specific scene or segment that  stayed with you and caused you to be curious?  delighted? angry? motivated?

I did like the film Super Size Me, however there were two scenes that really blew my mind, making me angry and had stuck with me. The one problem I could not agree with in the film was the two young girls suing McDonald's for being overweight. Are you kidding me? This part really disappointed me that some people can not blame  themselves but will blame the company for that.  McDonald's does serve unhealthy food but at the end of the day YOU are the one that chose what to eat and how much of it you consumed. There is no reason they should be suing the company when they could have just ate healthier and skipped eating at McDonald's multiple times a week. Another problem I really got frustrated with was the part he is interviewing the kids. I have posted a video of this part above to show you why it was frustrating to watch. These young kids have no idea who Jesus Christ is, but they know Wendy's and McDonald's mascots. This just shows how much advertising there is for these fast food places and how much kids go and eat there and pay attention more to these kind of objects rather than presidents and common people you should know. This part had really stuck with me and I cannot seem to get over it. I even went around showing my family this part to see how their reactions were and they were the exact same as mine. Knowing that fast food mascots are more known to younger generations than the president is, really concerns me and should concern parents with kids.

2. What questions remain after the viewing?

My main question I have after viewing Super Size Me is what happened to Morgan afterwards. I know he was at a very unhealthy state and all of the doctors had commented about how much his health had changed. It had made me wonder that after the experiment if he had gone back to his normal weight and if his cholesterol and everything else went back to how he normally had it. Another question I had in mind was did this film affect McDonald's in anyway? I did look up to see that McDonald's had actually removed their super size meals after the documentary was out however they claim it was not because of this film, in which people and I highly doubt. Besides that, I was wondering if there are any other things McDonald's had changed about their places after seeing this film. One last question the film had left me with is if people had actually stopped eating here and fast food in all, or if they had actually took in the lesson. I know I eat at fast food places sometimes when I am on the road, however after seeing this I am actually trying to cut it out completely and I was wondering if this had affected many people and actually encouraged them to cut this kind of food out of their diets.

Reflection 2

As I said in my earlier post, I really enjoyed the documentary Super Size Me. The message Morgan had sent through this film was very deep and should have affected many people who had watched this. If I could sit down with anyone in the film it would probably be Morgan since he is the mastermind behind this experiment and was the one who went through everything. I would ask him questions of how he felt about certain peoples answers they had given him while asking random questions about fast food. When they responded with a poor answer, you could hear how shocked he was. Knowing what he was thinking while interviewing people would make me feel better knowing I am not the only one who thinks some of the answers were just sad. I also would like to ask him what really intrigued him to do this experience, knowing many would not want to take the risk of doing this. When Morgan ate his first super sized meal, he instantly started vomiting up the whole meal, but after the vomiting had stopped, he continued to finish everything. The camera men were asking if he was sure of finishing it and he told them that he was going to complete the 30 days. As the days passed and as Morgan was getting checked up on by various doctors, the doctors had all told him that they were surprised how sick his body was getting and that he should stop. Usually after hearing a doctors advice, people take that advice, however, Morgan was determined to finished these 30 days. I think that is also another reason why this film is intriguing, even though doctors told him to stop and even his body was telling him to stop, he kept going and wanted to finish this to show people the real results of eating this much fast food could do. That is probably why I liked this film so much, he told us what he was going to do to show people the risks they are taking every time they eat that kind of food, and he delivered that and never gave up. He had put his life at risk just to influence people not to do what he is doing now. He does say that eating it three times a day is excessive and not likely, however even eating a couple days a week could add up. I know later this week is when we are suppose to post in detail more about certain scenes that stayed with us, so for now I had just simply posted the trailer of the documentary for those who have not watched it, to give you a better idea of what Morgans mission was and how he completed it.

Reflection 1

The documentary, Super Size Me had left me in awe. Right from the beginning, I was astounded to see how many people in America are actually obese, and seeing the reason why is even more shocking. Fast food floods the streets in America, with McDonald's being the most common. Where I live, there is a McDonald's that is only five minutes away and just this past summer, another one popped up that is only three minutes away... hopefully you see the problem here. At first when I was skimming through the list I thought that I would not pick a film that truly interested me and instead would be a film I was forced to watch in order to get a good grade. However, after the first ten minutes I had caught myself taking interest in what was going on and agreed with the problems they were going to show in the rest of the film. My initial impression was surprising and honestly, disgusted. I never really took in the fact that some individuals eat fast food on the daily and they do not realize how much damage they are causing to their bodies. I myself do eat fast food a couple of times a month, but seeing that others do consume it everyday, I see how many risks they are putting themselves into now. By watching this film of man whom consumes McDonald's 3 times a day for 30 days in a row, it shows what eating at fast food places could eventually do to you and how much it could harm you. The picture above is from the film showing the beginning to the end of his high fat diet. As you can see Morgans risks are doubled and have increased higher risks for multiple things. The doctors in the film were even surprised by how much his body has changed and how sick Morgan was actually getting from this experiment.  I personally think everyone should be shown this either during school or should watch it on their own to see the risks they are taking by eating a certain amount of these fast foods every day, week, month, or year.

As I had said earlier I love Tumblr and I am usually on it everyday skimming through posts and pictures people post. When I came across this one GIF, I just thought I would post it to my blog because music is very important to me. EDM is one of my favorite types of music, though many would disagree with me when I say music. Whenever I plug in my headphones and my music starts to play it always takes me away from whatever I am stressing over and puts me in the best mood. The beat is always a fast pace and just makes you want to get up and move. Music is always a cure to when I am having a bad day but also is fun to listen to when I am already in a good mood. Waking up and listening to EDM music gets me ready for the day and motivates me to actually do things from the time I am up to the time I go to bed. Not only do I listen to EDM but I am a huge fan of  80's music as well as many other genres. Needless to say, listening to music everyday really does help me get through that days obstacles. I encourage people to try and listen to this type of music and see what they think of it!
Hello everybody! :)

My name is Marge and have never really blogged before so do not mind correcting me with this. I do go on Tumblr all the time to read and view other's blogs, always finding something interesting to read. I think it really interesting reading other views people have on certain subjects and to just see what people like to get off their mind. I have been editing my blog for a while now trying to find a background that fits me and still trying to think of a title name that means something to me. If there are any areas of improvement I could possibly make on my blog please let me know, I like hearing feedback! Hopefully through blogging everyone will get to see my interests and who I am. I am  excited to see what kinds of posts everyone will be creating!
